Balinese Handheld Monkey Drum

A monkey drum (also known as a pellet drum or damru) is a small, handheld percussion instrument with small double-sided drum body attached to a central handle and strings with beads hanging from the sides.
Holding the handle between your palms and rotating or twisting your wrists back and forth, the spinning motion forces the suspended beads to strike the drum skins alternately, creating a rapid clacking or drumming rhythm.

Handcrafted in Bali using natural wood and animal skins, these monkey drums are often used in school music programs or rhythm workshops.
