Hand Painted Kalimba | Balinese Coconut Thumb Piano

The kalimba (also known as a thumb piano or mbira) is a traditional African lamellaphone instrument made of a wooden board or box with staggered metal tines. You play it by holding the instrument in your hands and plucking the metal keys (tines) with your thumbs. These kalimbas were crafted in Bali from coconut shell and hand painted in vibrant colorful designs.
